The Little Huskies Wrestling Club is located in Oak Park, IL. It is the youth wrestling feeder program of the 2009 State Champion OPRF Huskies. To learn more about the OPRF high school wrestling team, go to www.oprfwrestling.com.
LITTLE HUSKIES STEPPIN' UP!
The LHWC is a wrestling organization consisting of children through the 8th grade. Many of the Little Huskies join the Oak Park & River Forest High School wrestling program when they become freshmen at OPRF. This year (2011-2012) the LHWC put 18 guys(!) onto the OPRF freshman team. They are already off to a terrific start - the freshman team even won a 9-team sophomore tournament recently. We are very proud of them, as we are of ALL of our former Little Huskies!

THIS WEEK (February 20th):
We had 26 Little Huskies compete at the Badger Open yesterday. This was a great tourney with some tough teams including Vittum, Martinez, Tinley Park and Barrington. Our kids wrestled 66 matches, winning 39.
Champions included Dino Stevens, Danny Lingen, Lawrence Smith, Jonathan Mitchell, Malin Netisingha, Rollian Sturkey, Jeremiah Glen, Carl Carlton, and DavionTalbert.
We are giving OW for each age group this week:

Next week, we'll practice Monday - Thursday. Tuesday's practice will start at 5:15 -7:00. The rest of the practices will be held at the regular time.
Friday, we'll weigh in for IKWF Regionals at St Lawrence HS. We'll leave from Oak Park at 4:45. Anyone who is close on weight will need to come in early to check their weight. Weigh-ins close at 6:30 sharp on Friday. All wrestlers must bring their singlets to weigh ins.
Wrestlers will need to be at St. Lawrence by 7:30 AM on Saturday.
Finally, congrats to the High School wrestlers, most of whom were Little Huskies before they wrestled for OPRF. 8 qualified for state and we ended up with 1 champion, 1 runner up and 2 third place finishers. Oak Park also finished with the most points in the Class 3A individual tournament!!! They will start their quest for the team championship on Tuesday at 6:00 at OPRF Field House against Hinsdale Central HS.
Please remind your wrestler to get his homework done before practice and shower right after practice.

HUSKIE MAKES ALL-AMERICAN!
Andrew Matticks, 12, recently competed at the USA Wrestling Kids Greco-Roman and Freestyle National Championships in Farmington, Utah on June 28-29, 2011.
Matticks placed 2nd in Greco-Roman and 3rd in Freestyle for the 105-pound Novice division. These finishes named him to the USA Wrestling Kids National Team and earned him "All-American" status in both styles.

AT NORTHERN PLAINS TOURNEY
Three Little Huskies wrestlers traveled to the Northern Plains Regional Tournament, held June 16-18 in the Wisconsin Dells. They returned with some SERIOUS hardware!
